Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Pastry Palace decorating courses unique?

Because of the nature of our courses and class sizes, students receive intimate training from some of the finest pastry chefs and cake designers in the world.  Experienced in all facets of the art of pastry and cake creation, our instructors work in a small class setting that allows for one-on-one interaction with each student.  Students seeking to expand their professional cake design talents, or those who are simply passionate about crafting cake delights for family and friends are all welcome and teaching methods are tailored to the student’s skill level and ambition.

How do I register for a course?

To register for a course, please check our online classes schedule to see whether there is availability for the workshop you desire. You can then either register online or call or email us to reserve space. Full payment is required upfront to secure your place in a class.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once you have registered for a class, you have purchased your place in the workshop and there are no refunds.  We are able, on a case-by-case basis, to allow substitutions depending on the class status, but this is solely at the discretion of Pastry Palace.

What skills will I learn?

Our class curriculum is always expanding, and we currently have over 10 courses offered – ranging from beginning to advanced levels.  Each course will cover different decorating techniques.  If there are specific skills that a student wishes to learn or acquire additional training for, our instructors are often able to accommodate these needs during a class.

Who are your instructors?

Pastry Palace decorators, as well as guest instructors from some of the finest hotels here in Las Vegas.  Every instructor has in excess of 10 years of career experience – often more than 20 years.  Each instructor has been carefully assessed to determine their skills and various areas of expertise.  Student feedback submissions following each course help us to reinforce a positive classroom experience for every subsequent group of students.

Do You Accept Group and Corporate Bookings?

Yes – We do group bookings for both hands-on courses and demonstrations. You can either book into one of our existing courses or design your own course and learning outcomes. We can tailor-make any course to suit your requirements. Please enquire at

Do you offer courses for children?

We currently offer one basic primer course for children ages 10 & above that is conducted based on sign-up inquiries for the course.  However, we do offer private party bookings for parties of 8-10 students that provide a fun learning experience for adolescent chefs-to-be.  Parents are required to sign a Waiver Release of Liability in order for children to attend classes.

Do you offer courses for professional chefs?

Our instructors are well-versed in providing training for professionals in the industry and, in fact, this is the primary purpose of our classes.  Many of our students also wish to prepare for competition baking, or simply aspire to acquire the skills and talents to create the beautiful cakes they see in bakeries and magazine articles.

What should I bring/wear to my Pastry Palace course?

In order to maintain a consistently high quality of experiential learning, all our workshops are hands-on and we provide all the supplies, materials, ingredients and equipment required to create your cake or project.  Students who wish to work with their own tools are welcome to do so, however; we simply ask that you advise us in advance.  For attire, we recommend you wear comfortable, close-toed shoes – because you’ll be on your feet.  If you are a professional and would be more comfortable in your work attire, you are welcome to wear that.  Otherwise, we simply suggest you wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty!  We do provide aprons for all our students to wear during class, as well.

How many students in each Pastry Palace workshop?

For actual scheduled classes, a maximum of 8 students per session.  Although for private parties or special groups, we are able to accommodate 8-10 people.

Do we have to bake our own cake?

No – Pastry Palace provides everything you will need for your workshop – including the cake.  Most of our classes focus on cake decorating rather than baking.  However, we are happy to provide some tips and advice during your classes on recommended recipes and baking techniques.  You may also wish to review our Recipes & Baking Basics information sheet that is provided to you following registration.

Do I need a lot of decorating experience?

Not at all.  Our courses range from beginner to intermediate to advanced levels – so we can accommodate everyone.  We believe cake decorating is one of the most interesting and fun activities to undertake, as either a professional or a hobbyist.  You will be amazed at what you will be able to achieve following a single classroom experience with us.
